The Coralife Turbo-Twist 3x UV Sterilizer provides continuous ultraviolet sterilization. The Turbo -Twist provides crystal-clear aquariums by eliminating single-cell algae that cause algal blooms. It also decreases the possibility of a disease outbreak in your aquatic system by ensuring that disease-causing pathogens cannot reproduce. The sterilizer eradicates most harmful micro-organism on the initial pass through the chamber. The Turbo-Twist 3x treats up to 125 gallon saltwater or freshwater aquatic systems. The Turbo-Twist features a quartz glass sleeve with a 9 watt PL compact fluorescent U.V. Lamp. The lamp is surrounded by a revolutionary "turbo-twist" flow design to increase dwell time, which in turn increases efficiency. The filter's triple-treatment time fully utilizes all the available U.V. output of the lamp. The Turbo-Twist can be installed vertically outside the aquarium or sump using the included bracket and suction cup. It can also be installed in a horizontal position by attaching the bracket with screws to a fixed surface. Instructions: To ensure superior kill-rates of the sterilizer, the quartz sleeve should be cleaned periodically. Open the housing and wipe the quartz sleeve using a soft, damp cloth. Do not use household cleaners or abrasive scrubbers to clean the quartz housing. The UV-C lamp has a useful life of about 8,000 hours. To ensure effective performance, replace the UV-C lamp before it expires. Specifications: To accommodate the 9 watt Turbo-Twist , you will need a powerhead, pump or canister filter with a flow rate of 100 to 200 gallons per hour. The flow rate needs to be low enough to provide the appropriate exposure dosage, but high enough to treat the entire volume of the aquarium with appropriate frequency. When the proper flow rate is attained, the 9 watt Turbo-Twist is suitable for use with aquariums up to 125 gallons. Use 5/8” or 1/2” flexible tubing to connect the outlet from the water pump to the hose-barb inlet on the sterilizer. Use 5/8” or 1/2” flexible tubing to return the water from the outlet on the sterilizer to the aquarium. Use the included hose lock nuts to secure the flexible tubing to the hose barbs.
