The Aquapod filtration system consists of a surface-skimming system, a mechanical sponge filter, and a submersible pump with flat nozzle. It's all you need to start a beautiful, exciting underwater world! Instructions: Before removing your aquarium from the box, please note any exterior shipping damage to the box. It is strongly recommended to keep the box and packing material in the unlikely event that there is shipping damage or service required. If you notice any damage (broken glass, cracked lid, broken lamps, etc.) please stop and contact your dealer immediately. Inspect glass closely for any cracks. Ensure aquarium is placed on a flat, level surface. The stand must be able to hold a maximum weight of 200 pounds. Ensure location has plenty of ventilation. If placing next to a wall, allow 3"-4" of space between wall and back of aquarium. Tilt the lid open. Remove the screws that hold the lamp cover in place and remove lamps. Remove the plastic sleeves over the lamps and remove any additional packing material, replace lamps and plug into sockets. Reattach protective lens by replacing screws. Keep lamp sleeves with other packaging materials. To install submersible pump, unwind power cord and slide cord through the notch on the hinged back. Attach the plastic return fitting at the top of the flexible line to the inlet of the flat spray nozzle. Always ensure that an adequate water level is maintained to keep pump submersed. Running pump dry or not submersed will void warranty. Wash all filter sponges, media and carbon in clean water. Place mechanical filter sponge block into the overflow of the filter chamber. The sponge should be 1" below the overflow teeth, cut if necessary. Biomedia (if used) and chemical media can be placed in back open chambers. Ensure pump return line is connected to outlet. Once all of the above steps are complete, the aquarium can be filled with water. Open lid and fill aquarium to just under the frame level. Inspect for any leakage or other damage. Create a drop loop, plug cords into a GFCI receptacle. Water will begin to flow through the filter. Important: Do not allow the pump to run without water at any time. When turning on the lights, ensure that the electrical cord that powers both a lamp and fan (usually the Dual Actinic light) is turned on at the same time or before the other lamp. This will ensure proper cooling within the hood and eliminate excess heat. When using a timer, it is advised that both lamps be energized at the same time or that the lamp with the cooling fan be energized before the other energizing the other lamp and turned off after the other lamp has been turned off.
